Ever thought of having an avatar size limit?

Because I was looking through the RP sections and some of those avatars are just WAY TOO DAMN HUGE. Argh, it's distracting. You don't need to have an 800x745px giant anime chick in your avatar for people to know what your character looks like, people ...

I just think it'd be a good idea, considering. Nothing too small. Like, 300x300 or something would be what I'd set it to. But meh.

You do have a point. Even though at one point I've had oversized. I think the one I have is almost to big. Bit definatley not a limit that is to small. By the way, I like your avatar.

Hey, your current would fit in just fine, and if someone needed their av resized they could always ask in the "Help" section, and I'm sure someone would do it.

Pixel art isn't that hard, just download some bases and go. Finding male bases .. that's the hard part.

I googled "doll bases". Most of them suck but I can occasionally find some nice anime-style ones. I need more males though, nobody wants to make males. Blah.

I personally hate the huge things.
However, we decided to leave it as it is, since the people seemed to like it - since the activity speaks for that.

Resizing is not so much an issue. We could easily auto-resize everything here, would we want to enforce a rule.

If you want to run a personal campaign against those avatars, feel free to, as long you keep it public (posting on Digital) and don't post it in the actual RP sections.
This is, per se, the best place for it.

Since I personally believe it's unsettling to have most of the bandwidth be comsumed by avataros-of-doom, I would be willing to make a news entry regarding this thread. Or, you could make a (not yet binding) poll out of that.

It bugs me too.  I was considering to join an RP (pokémon) to see if I could get back in the habit, and browsed some of the RP threads.  I came across one that took up at least half my browser window (width-wise), and decided I wasn't going to bother.

And, I had complained to Rofu a bit, but he pointed out that it seemingly doesn't bother other people, so... I could see his point, but did not join the RP (as it strains MY eyes).  Basically, if enough other people like it, that's fine with me, I just wasn't interested.

That's why I made this thread. To see if it DOES bother other people. And I guess I'll make a poll, if it can prove it better, but I've always trusted user-posted response over poll votes which can easily be fudged using multiple accounts (such as roleplay accounts) to vote either way.

And Marij, that's pretty much why I'm having a hard time getting into Harry Potter roleplay. Because of the huge avatars.
