It was what could be described as the perfect time of day, but not so much day as it was night. The brink of in between the sun making it's final decent, and the moon rising to its majestic peak of glory. Brilliant and terrifying in all it's wonders, while as peaceful as a newborn kit. The heavens seemingly alit in a pale and ever darkening wash blue. Blazes of the suns retreating light, streaked out unevenly. Birds fluttered their wings overhead, striving to reach their protected safe havens that lye so snugly perched among the trees towering branches. The grasses swayed gently, and the sound of insects seemed the only thing audible. But this would not last for long, for soon enough a startling laughter broke the forbidden silence. The laughter seizing its moment with a genuine air of youth. Nestled in the shelter of the tall reeds stirred a figure, the young feline head bobbing up from it’s sanctuary as it peered about in triumph.
A broad grin beset on Slash’s features, his ivory teeth bearing. At last! An escape from the ever-watching eyes of Damu! Sure, he might get a bit huffy about it, but can he honestly expect me to stay put in that boring and stuffy old cave? The thoughts whirled around and around in his head, tawny colored paws adjusting beneath his brown cubbish frame. His hind legs pushing out as he stood now, the upper half of his body now visible from even a slight distance. The male’s tiny claws extracted from their salmon padded sheaths and sunk firmly into the soil beneath, clasping the dirt and roots between his toes before setting off at casual paced walk.
It seemed like forever and a day since he’d talked down the familiar and worn down path. His tail weaving to and fro behind his tender flank, the scruff atop of his cranium more rigid than was usual. Slash’s mixed gray-green eyes dancing as his nose took in the many distinctive aromas around him, most of which where unrecognizable and foreign, leaving him to simply guess at what they might be. The kit’s rounded obsidian colored lobes fluttering freely in every which direction before firmly perking upright and pushing foreword. Aha! There you are.. As he rounded an offset bend among the hill like terrain, Slash paused in his footing. A devious smirk replacing his grin from before, when he spotted the lone acacia tree several yards off. The withered sandy limbs near bare of all its leaves.
Approaching, the cub heaved a sigh and shook his head in dismay. Glancing with a look of almost hope before he was overcome with melancholy. Small dentals within his muzzle gritted from the irritancy of it all. Sure, it was fool hearty to think Sefa might be here, and perhaps it was naïve that he actually believed he would be. Frowning ever so slightly he crept up to the base of the trunk and stuck a paw on the warm and damp bark. That’s okay Sefa… I’ll wait… for however long it takes. I’ll wait. Slash confided in his mind before circling the trunk and flopping himself on the ground, the area in which was stripped of it’s grass long before.
"A lot of good this was.. well at least I won't have to worry about Damu for awhile..."
